Digital Asset POS: Unlocking Global Commerce for Caribbean SMEs

Kura Technologies Inc. is a financial technology company developing cross-border payment infrastructure for small and medium-sized businesses across the Caribbean. Founded in 2023 and already operational in Haiti, the company addresses the difficulty many merchants face in receiving international payments, accessing US dollar-denominated value and settling transactions across fragmented regional payment systems.
Kura’s platform combines a software-based point-of-sale and store-management tool with a self-custody, USD stablecoin wallet that can be accessed from a mobile device. It enables merchants to receive, hold and manage cross-border digital payments without dedicated POS hardware and with reduced dependence on traditional banking infrastructure. The platform integrates blockchain-based settlement, compliance-focused financial systems and AI-supported merchant onboarding. Its priority payment flows include humanitarian aid disbursements, remittance-funded merchant payments and business-to-business trade payments. The company also intends to use merchant transaction histories to support future access to credit and other formal financial services.
Kura reports that it has onboarded more than 700 merchants in Haiti, processed over USD 250,000 in cross-border transactions and secured Money Services Business licensing in the United States and Canada. Near-term expansion is focused on Jamaica in the fourth quarter of 2026 and the Dominican Republic in 2027. Trinidad and Tobago, Belize and Barbados are also identified within the company’s broader three-year regional expansion plan. This growth strategy targets Caribbean SMEs, international payers, development organisations and businesses seeking more efficient cross-border settlement options.
Kura is seeking USD 5 million to support regional expansion and the scaling of its payment infrastructure and merchant network. The company is open to equity investment, blended-finance arrangements and strategic partnerships. The investment would position Kura to extend its platform into additional Caribbean markets while strengthening the operational and compliance capacity required for cross-border payments.
The project has the potential to support Caribbean digital transformation by widening SME access to international payment channels and facilitating regional and global commerce. Its humanitarian payment functionality may also improve the traceability and efficiency of aid disbursements to verified merchants. Over time, the transaction data generated through the platform could help participating businesses build financial records that support access to credit and other services.
